Jacob Smith, MD
Year of Graduation: 2010
I was born and raised in Iowa City, IA. After serving a two year mission for my church in Belem, Brasil, I did my undergrad in microbiology at Brigham Young University. I then came back home to do medical school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
When I found out that I had matched at MCW, I had only planned on staying here for 4 years and then going back to Iowa. Since living here, I have come to love the Milwaukee area. I have 3 children, and the Milwaukee area is a great place to live. We live in the great suburb of Greendale which has great schools and a small town feel but is still close enough to enjoy the great zoo and museums and other fun things to do in Milwaukee.
The residency program has also been great. There is a good combination of teaching and educational work without a lot of scut work. My family and I are now very happy that we have come to MCW. I am interested in forensics and will be pursuing a fellowship in forensic pathology.
