Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology

Under the direction of Drs. Richard Komorowski and Kiyoko Oshima, the gastrointestinal (GI) and liver pathology service at MCW provides diagnostic surgical pathology service on the gastrointestinal, hepatic and pancreatobiliary systems in adults. The GI and liver pathology section examines approximately 8,000 specimens per year, including endoscopic biopsies, endoscopic resections and surgical resections of the entire gastrointestinal, hepatic and pancreatobiliary systems, and second-opinion (consultation) service. A variety of benign, pre-neoplastic and neoplastic conditions are assessed to provide the most appropriate care. The GI pathology and liver service has expertise in transplant pathology.
