Year of Graduation: 2011

I’m a Milwaukee native who just can’t leave this great city. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Marquette University in 2007, and graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2011. When it came to choosing a Pathology residency, I was so happy to find that the MCW program would provide me not only with strong training by dedicated staff, but is also a program filled with amazing co-residents.

No matter how the week is going, I know I can always look forward to the weekly Thursday night resident outing for wings. Milwaukee has great brewery tours, fantastic seasons (thankfully I have underground parking for the winter), sports events (go Brewers!), summer festivals, and concerts. In my free time, I love to cook, bake, browse home improvement blogs, and workout at a local bootcamp in hopes to counteract the aforementioned love of cooking and baking.

But to get down to business, I can honestly say that I’m very happy with our program. During my time here so far, I’ve had the opportunity to work on several research projects and the honor to be a member of the ASCP Resident Council. At our program, the attendings are dedicated to teaching, very approachable, and eager to collaborate with residents on research, of which there are plenty opportunities and projects for resident involvement.

The case load is “just right” and filled with nice variety, and the resources are great (book fund, travel fund for presenting research, resident library, slide collection, personal microscopes and computers at our desks). I’ve also found that there is a great balance between anatomic and clinical pathology training. All in all, it’s a wonderful place to work and learn. Please e-mail me with any questions you have about Milwaukee or our program.
