Shira Ronen, MD
Year of Graduation: 2014
I was born and raised in Ashkelon, Israel. I went to medical school in the University of Debrecen, Hungary because my father’s family came from Hungary and I wanted an opportunity to explore my roots. During my last two years in medical school, I was exposed to pathology and decided that it will be a perfect career path for me.
I feel very fortunate to have matched at the Medical College of Wisconsin because this program offers a very well balanced experience in both AP and CP. Also, my father is an academic dermatologist in Israel and I have always been attracted to academic medicine. The great research infrastructure that exists in this department is a wonderful asset for residents and fellows to learn and engage in research projects that will prepare us for an academic career.
I have found Milwaukee to be a very beautiful and friendly city with many activities for young people and great multi-cultural environment. I am eagerly looking forward to spending the next four years of my life here.
