Medical School: St. George’s University School of Medicine

Hello everyone! My name is Frank, and it is my pleasure to introduce myself as one of the new Pathology residents here at MCW. I am originally from Chicago, where I studied Psychology and worked briefly in the Social Services before deciding I wanted to be in a field with more tangible problems and solutions. A job as a hospital clerk in Oakland, California (where I had visited during college) exposed me to the field of Medicine, and I eventually enrolled at SFSU for pre-med courses and attended St. George’s University for medical school. My first two years at SGU were in Grenada, West, Indies, while years three and four were at St. John Hospital in Detroit.
It was during my time at St. John that I was first introduced to the Pathology lab, and it quickly became my favorite part of the hospital. I most appreciated the visual and hands on nature of the specialty. It is exciting to now have this opportunity to study Pathology in such a pleasant environment. Our program directors are easing us into our new responsibilities with lots of support, and our fellow residents have been friendly and helpful. As for the surrounding community of Wauwatosa, I have been extremely comfortable living here. I rent in a very quiet and peaceful residential area, and yet can walk to the grocery store, coffee shop, Thai food, and pizza. I am also only five minutes by car from work, making this the most benign commute I have ever had. I look forward to what these next four years will bring!
