Wisconsin Histology Society
The Department of Pathology has two histotechnicians who are board of director’s members for the Wisconsin Histology Society. The Vice President Stephanie Wirsbinski, HT (ASCP) cm and Secretary Kathryn Stoll, HT (ASCP).
The Wisconsin Histology Society was formed to educate and provide information to others while advancing the field of Histotechnology, and help provide professional growth. Here the society can share scientific growth and technical expertise with other histology technicians across the state of Wisconsin.
At the annual meeting in May, 2015 Stephanie was elected Vice-President and Kathryn was elected secretary. This is Kathryn’s second term. Both Stephanie and Kathryn will be heading to Washington DC at the end of August to attend the National Histology Society’s 41st Annual Symposium Convention. They will be representing Wisconsin as State Delegates. Stephanie is also the Region IV representative to the Nominations and Elections Committee. She will be representing 4 states, including Wisconsin to help select and nominate board members at the national level for the National Society of Histology. Kathryn is presenting a poster at the symposium in the research category. The Introduction of Whole Mount Prostate Specimens into A Routine Histology Laboratory Aided by 3D Printing. Also included are Peter Lavallette, Kenneth Iczkowski and A. Craig Mackinnon. Kathryn is the primary author.
Stephanie is a histotechnologist at the Histology Core in Children’s Research Institute. Kathryn is the histology supervisor in the Clinical and Translational Research Core Lab (CTRL). Both women bring 15 years of histology experience to the department of pathology.
